OUR CLIENT:
Our Client, a well recognized brand that offers year after year success supporting an entrepreneurial but highly stable and fun culture has retained our services to source a Senior Manager - Licensing.
MANDATE:
Your mandate will be to lead the Canadian Licensing Team for all corporate licensed properties and execute the negotiation of medium to large or complex contracts involving significant terms. You will oversee and guide the product development process in a manner that ensures brand integrity and consistency.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will have and degree in Marketing or Business combined with 7-10 years of related business experience with advanced ability to foster relationships in a highly matrixed organization. You are a strong leader and have prior management experience with licensing and advanced knowledge of the licensing industry, processes, procedures as well as laws/regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides creative direction and aids in the development of new products.
- Leads various activities including marketing, PR, retail development, sales, event management, and buyer relationships.
- Conducts financial and market analysis of multiple product categories and potential licenses to determine opportunity for growth for consumer products; makes recommendations to upper management regarding analysis and conclusions.
- Builds and strengthens ongoing relationships with licensees, creative agencies, retailers and other business partners.
- Identifies new licensing opportunities with established licensees as well as external partners.
- Responsible for recruiting, selecting, coaching and training Canadian licensing team.
- Manages and supervises team activities.
- Manages planning and implementation around promotions that maximize consumer exposure and vendor profitability.
- Works closely with counterparts and design teams to bring new licensed product to marketing.
- Has final accountability for extending brands, category presence and retail presence in local markets.
- Has final accountability for implementing strategic account plans in local markets.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Marketing or Business, MBA an asset
- 7-10 years experience of related business experience
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, both oral and written
- Good analytical and reasoning ability
- Advanced understanding of licensing processes and procedures as well as laws/regulations
- Advanced management skills requiring advanced ability to plan, organize, execute, control and evaluate team activities and resources.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and strategic planning skills.
