MANDATE:
This newly created marketing role focused on the U.S. retail channel will be the lead for all U.S. customer requirements including execution of branded activities and handling some strategy for private label marketing initiatives south of the border. In addition you will be managing the new product process, be responsible for the development & execution of annual marketing and account specific plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor performance of products/programs against plan and carry out changes to the plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved • Work with & develop activities which support field sales activities, including assistance to sales in presentation development. • In conjunction with Sales & Product Marketing, develop channel-specific pricing strategies. • Serve as a liaison between Field Sales Team and Corporate Marketing. • Establish an annual trade budget leveraging input from both Sales and Product Marketing. This involves a channel/account research plan & trade promotional spends. • Manage & monitor spending as approved in annual budget; minimize risk and ensure budget is not over-spent. • Manage overall SKU rationalization to maximize efficiencies • Manage packaging execution with customer and internal packaging specialist • Provide input into the development of competitive products. • Ensure preparation and execution of promotional and merchandising materials for US retail business. • Control placement of company programs, POS, merchandising materials etc. • Devise and implement promotional/merchandising activities to maximize sales and achieve divisional objectives • Develop a channel and account research plan in conjunction with Sales and Marketing plans • Review all channel research and customer insights and provide detailed summarizes/presentations to assist both product marketing and field sales. • Prepare divisional specific materials for training of the sales force related to trends and new offerings
QUALIFICATIONS:
• University Degree, B.Comm. Business Admin or Marketing discipline. • 3-5 years of Category Management/Trade Marketing experience in CPG/Foodservice industry • Strong presentation and communication skills • Significant experience in developing category plans, understating both syndicated and account specific research. • Must have a can-do attitude with a bias to action and an ability to work within formal and informal business teams • Strong influencing skills - ability to make a well-thought through decision and support in convincingly with facts. • Strong project management skills - ability to manage timelines / deadlines • Ability to lead cross-functional business teams • Strong computer skills related to: PowerPoint, Word and Excel • General knowledge of U.S. retail business channels • Demonstrated ability to work with both internal and external customers
