MANAGER, TOTAL REWARDS
Toronto

Our Client one of Canada’s most prestigious retail brands, whose number one priority is exceeding customers’ expectations, requires a progressive Manager, Total Rewards with a minimum 5 years of comprehensive total rewards experience including but not limited to: policies, salary surveys, job evaluations, bonus/incentive plans, benefits plan administration.

In conjunction with the Director, Total Rewards, your mandate will be to oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of the company total rewards programs.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Provide leadership, management, and coaching to a small team of HR professionals
  • Remain current with trends and issues in the  total reward field and retail industry
  • In conjunction with the HR leadership team, contribute to  the development and consistent execution of total reward  policy, process and programs
  • Manage relationships between internal HR resources and external consultants and suppliers
  • Support the VP, Total Rewards and work effectively with other members of the Total Rewards team to achieve business goals
  • In the context of the overall HR/OD strategy, contribute to the development of a comprehensive Total Rewards strategy for specific business units.  The scope includes driving employee engagement and productivity through effective total reward practices.  The role spans:  salary and hourly compensation structures; variable pay programs; annual merit cycle;  annual minimum wage analysis; salary progression guidelines; benefits design and administration; employee discount program; compensation analytics and reporting.
  • Tracking and managing against Total Rewards goals and objectives set in conjunction
  • Assessing risks associated with Total Rewards policies, processes and programs and working with the Director, Total Rewards and business groups to develop and implement solutions to mitigate/eliminate risk
  • Working with Director, Total Rewards to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations in policies, processes and programs
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of employment legislation influencing compensation and benefits
  • Recruiting, engaging, developing and sustaining a team capable of doing the work
  • Setting appropriate team objectives at the start of the performance cycle and measuring employees against their related individual accountabilities
  • Coaching employees for success by providing timely feedback, reinforcing desired behavior and offering opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge.  Identifying individual development opportunities and works with employees to develop clear and time bound plans to address them
  • Ensuring that employees follow our core processes to maximize the value we deliver to our customers and shareholders
  • Negotiating coverage services and costs with carriers
  • Monitoring contracts against KPls and advising Director, Total Rewards as to potential and emerging issues for correction/action

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management and/or Business Administration or a related field
  • 5 years Total Rewards experience including policies, salary surveys, job evaluations, bonus/incentive plans, benefits plan administration
  • Retail industry total rewards experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced understanding of Excel, and database management; HRIS experience required – SAP HCM exposure is ideal
  • CPP designation is strongly preferred
