INTERMEDIATE BUYER
Mississauga

Our client is a large scale manufacturer of food products and a true Canadian success story! They require an Intermediate Buyer to join their team who will be responsible for purchasing approximately $40 million dollars of raw ingredients, packaging and machine parts. This is a well established brand that continues to grow and present opportunities for advancement.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

  • Responsible for purchasing all consumable items to meet daily production needs.  Also orders non-stock supplies, equipment and services.
  • Generates and expedites purchase orders based on production/end user requirements.
  • Negotiates with vendors to achieve the best possible price, quality, opportunity buys and lead times.
  • Determines production requirements based on past usage and releases purchase orders within lead-time in order to ensure the timely delivery of materials.
  • Participates in weekly Features meetings and generates reports based on forecasts in order to ensure adequate stock levels are met for the featured items.
  • Works closely with manufacturing and inventory control to maintain adequate stock levels and prevent either over-supply or shortage that could cause a line shutdown.
  • Follows up/expedites all open orders and coordinates pick-ups with dispatch on a daily basis so that production materials arrive on schedule.
  • Obtains quotes for non-stock supplies, equipment and services.  Relays information to requestor and places orders in a timely manner..
  • Acts as a liaison between Receiving and Purchasing to resolve any outstanding receiving issues.
  • Sets up new vendors and non-stock items as and when necessary.
  • Works with Accounts Payable to ensure all invoice discrepancies are resolved.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-5 Years experience in a related position in the manufacturing sector
  • Advanced ERP technical skills, preferably Dynamics AX
  • Advanced Microsoft office software skills
  • Advanced Data Base Access, TM1, Sequel
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Finance
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and proven ability to work in a fast paced team environment
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable liaising with various departments and levels of management
  • Self-starter with a  strong sense of urgency
  • Able to work in a high-pressure environment meeting multiple deadlines and tasks
  • A problem solver who uses their own initiative and is receptive to new ideas
  • Dedicated to results and continuous improvement within a team environment
