Join the team of one of Canada’s CPG success stories! Our client, a CPG manufacturing leader in their field has retained our services to source a Channel Marketing Manager for a 1 year contract. Reporting into 2 Vice Presidents, your mandate will be to support sales and marketing in creating and executing strategic plans to maximize divisional opportunities and meet/exceed normal budget objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsible for the development & execution of channel specific plans which support annual marketing plans and Account specific plans. • Monitor performance of products/programs against plan and carry out changes to the plan if necessary to ensure that targets are achieved • Work with & develop activities which support field sales activities, including assistance to sales in presentation development. • In conjunction with Sales & Product Marketing, develop Channel-specific pricing strategies. • Serve as a liaison between Field Sales Team and Corporate Marketing. • Establish an annual trade budget leveraging input from both Sales and Product Marketing. This involves a channel/account research plan & trade promotional spends. • Manage & monitor spending as approved in annual budget; minimize risk and ensure budget is not over-spent. • Manage overall SKU rationalization to maximize efficiencies • Manage PL packaging execution with customer and MP packaging specialist • Provide input into the development of PL formulas and periodic profiling of competitive products. • Ensure preparation and execution of promotional and merchandising materials for private label business.
• Control placement of company programs, POS, merchandising materials etc. • Devise and implement promotional/merchandising activities to maximize sales and achieve divisional objectives • In conjunction with Field Sales, carry out channel competitive analysis of all competitive activities; products, materials and pricing. • Develop a channel and account research plan in conjunction with Sales and Marketing plans • Review all channel research and customer insights and provide detailed summarizes/presentations to assist both Product Marketing and field sales.
• Prepare divisional specific materials for training of the sales force related to trends and new offerings
QUALIFICATIONS:
• University Degree, B.Comm. Business Admin or Marketing discipline. • 3-5 years of Category Management/Trade Marketing experience in CPG/Foodservicing industry • Strong presentation and communication skills • Significant experience in developing category plans, understating both syndicated and account specific research. • Must have a can-do attitude with a bias to action and an ability to work within formal and informal business teams • Proficient financial management capabilities • Strong influencing skills - ability to make a well-thought through decision and support in convincingly with facts. • Strong project management skills - ability to manage timelines / deadlines • Ability to lead cross-functional business teams • Strong negotiation skills as related to external customers and suppliers • Strong computer skills related to: Powerpoint, Word and Excel • Can lead development of marketing business plan across cross-functional business team • Proven Project Management skills • Proven ability to execute both consumer and customer specific marketing programs • Ability to analyze data and generate recommendations for business improvement. Proficient at generating specific customer -based opportunities through national / regional data analysis. • Demonstrated ability to manage and track annual marketing budgets. Ensures budgets are attained by making regular recommendations / adjustments to budget. • Experience managing corporate profitability through extensive knowledge of P+L's and their impact to profitability • Extensive knowledge of customer programs and how they relate to the marketing mix, eg customer pricing • General knowledge of retail business channels and specific customers • Demonstrated ability to work with both internal and external customers • Able to resolve business issues and develop and communicate recommendations for business improvement to senior management
